About the Program

The Federal Practice Section invites all members of the bar to the 12th biennial Bench-Bar Conference at Saint Clements Castle. Our three substantive presentations will tackle:

  1. The future of administrative law and the regulatory state after the end of Chevron deference;
  2. Yale historian Beverly Gage’s recent Pulitzer Prize–winning biography of J. Edgar Hoover, focusing on the development of federal criminal law and federal law enforcement; and
  3. The intersection of bankruptcy and civil justice, highlighting recent developments involving Alex Jones, Purdue Pharma, and the so-called Texas Two-Step

Chief Judge Michael P. Shea and Circuit Judge Sarah A. L. Merriam will deliver addresses on the State of the District and the Circuit, respectively.
