About the Program

This program will cover the basics of drafting properly-structured engagement letters that are effective in helping prevent ethical issues in client matters. It will cover the applicable rules of professional conduct, address risk management concerns, and discuss the critical components of engagement (and non-engagement letters) that will guide conscientious attorneys in creating positive, ethical relationships with clients from beginning to end.

• About the applicable rules of professional conduct and the importance of engagement letters to the attorney-client relationship
• About the basic and most critical components of good engagement letters in varying types of engagements
• About key engagement letter clauses and explore hypothetical situations where common questions arise

The Connecticut Bar Association/CT Bar Institute is an accredited provider of New York State CLE. This program qualifies for newly admitted and experienced attorneys CLE credits.
