Concerns Related to Residents in Long Term Care

Program Description
Join the Connecticut Long-Term Care Ombudsman and Connecticut Legal Services for a one-hour review of nursing home rights and updates. Mairead Painter will present on resident’s rights related to Transfer/Discharge notices, changes to resident’s rights during a nursing home closure, and resident’s rights related to receiving unopened mail. Chris Carlson will review the Nursing Home Reform Act and Connecticut Patient’s Bill of Rights to show where grievance procedures come from, what they must include, and how they must be resolved by the nursing home; special consideration will be given to how grievance procedures may be used by LGBTQ+ residents to overcome common challenges. Leah Pollard will review important safeguards for conserved residents.
