Program Description
This program will present the intersection of legal and medical perspectives in end-of-life planning and decision-making. The panel discussion will include case studies on end-of-life issues presented in the probate court and hospital settings, such as:
- Medication management at end of life
- Resolving disputes over the provision or withdrawal of life support
- Who has the right to make end of life decisions, in theory and in practice
- The role of health care proxies and relatives in effectuating an individual’s wishes
- The use of Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST)
