Law Day is a national effort, held since 1957, to celebrate the rule of law, providing an opportunity to understand how law and the legal profession protect our liberty, strive to achieve justice, and contribute to the freedoms that all Americans share. Traditionally, the CBA's Civics Education Committee observes Law Day at the Connecticut Appellate Court in Hartford by hosting an event featuring an interactive activity for middle and high school students. As we prepare to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of America’s independence, this year’s Law Day program will feature thoughts from students from our partners at Classical Magnet School and Renzulli Academy in Hartford about how the rule of law is important to the American Dream. Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas, a champion of civics education in Connecticut, will also join us as we present the annual Ralph Monaco Memorial Award for excellence in civics education and engagement to several outstanding high school students. Luncheon will follow in the Capitol lobby.
