About the Program
This program will cover how to set-up legal instruments in Microsoft Word the right way - whether you're creating a new document or editing an existing one. If a document is set-up correctly, it always responds to editing the way you want it to, the formatting remains perfect, and you never have to figure out why your formatting goes sideways because It never does.
First, you will learn about Word's most important and powerful feature - styles. You simply cannot master and control Word until you master and control styles. Then we'll cover how to set up single or multi-level automatic paragraph numbering schemes which work perfectly every time, even with compound numbering (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.). You'll also discover how to set-up cross references that automatically update, and generate automative tables of contents. Finally, you'll learn all of these techniques while working through the process necessary to fix/repair any Word document, no matter how bad the starting point. You'll be provided sample files for use in the class, and you will be able to follow along as we work through the exercises. Once you work with a document which is properly constructed from a Word perspective, you'll never want to work with one again that isn't.
You Will Learn
- How to customize and configure Word's styles feature to their advantage and completely control the complex formatting typically required in legal documents.
- How to set up any single or multi-level automative paragraph numbering scheme (using numbers, letters or bullets) so that it works perfectly no matter how the document is edited.
- How to link automative paragraph numbers to styles, thereby rendering them virtually unbreakable.
- How to set up automative cross-references to other paragraphs so that they update if the document is subsequently edited and are always correct.
- How to generate an automative table of contents which will update if the document changes.
