Program Description

This presentation provides special education attorneys with a practical understanding of how Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are developed, implemented, and evaluated within educational settings. Participants will examine the connection between functional behavioral assessment findings and the selection of function-based interventions, including how behavioral strategies are translated into clear, actionable components of a BIP. The presentation will also address staff training, data collection, progress monitoring, and treatment integrity/fidelity as essential components of effective implementation. Emphasis will be placed on helping attorneys understand not only what should be included in a BIP, but how teams determine appropriate interventions and evaluate whether the plan is being implemented as designed and producing meaningful change.
