How to Build the Will to Legally Challenge Industrial Farming While Achieving Incremental Improvements Along the Way: The Strategic Value of Legal Strategies to Fight Humanewashing

The founder and current Executive Director of Farm Forward, Dr. Aaron Gross and Andrew deCoriolis, will speak about the increasing role that legal strategies are playing in their nonprofit's efforts to build a political base committed to constraining and ultimately reversing the harms of factory farms, aka CAFOs. The presentation will highlight recent successes Farm Forward has had in targeting claims that meat products are "raised without antibiotics," which has led to action by the USDA and dramatic labeling changes in the beef industry. We'll explain how we got here, why it matters, and what needs to happen for these changes in antibiotic labeling to ramify into truly meaningful change.
