On Thursday, September 12, 2019, the Child Welfare and Juvenile Law Section recognized Attorney John N. DiStassio, Bridgeport Juvenile Public Defender's Office, for his excellence in Juvenile Law.

 Attorney DiStassio received his BA from Fairfield University in1967; his M.A. from Fairfield University in 1970; and his J.D. from New York Law School in 1975.

He was in private practice from 1981 to 2000 in the areas of delinquency and child protection matters. He was appointed supervisory assistant public defender for Stamford-Norwalk Juvenile Matters. Currently, he is the supervisory assistant public defender in the Bridgeport Superior Court for Juvenile Matters for delinquency and child protection matters.
 

Michael C. Williams, DCF Deputy Commissioner of Operations, was the guest speaker for the evening. He discussed the vision for Department of Children and Families (DCF) regarding the Courts of Family, Juvenile, and Probate.
