Member Spotlight | Five Young Lawyers Named to 2020 “40 Under Forty” Class

Five CBA members receive the Hartford Business Journal's (HBJ) annual “40 Under Forty” recognition. Matthew K. Curtin, Bridget M. D’Angelo, Rachel J. Fain, Meghan E. Smith, and Andrew E. Walter are among the 2020 class selected from approximately 120 nominations.

Matthew K. Curtin
 is a partner in the Litigation Department and chair of the Data Privacy and Cybersecurity practice group at Murtha Cullina LLP. He is currently co-chair of the CBA’s Law and Employment Section, something he tells HBJ is his greatest professional accomplishment, and a member of the Federal Practice and Litigation Sections. Attorney Curtin is also a volunteer for the St. James School Board in Manchester.

Bridget M. D’Angelo
 is an associate in Carmody Torrance Sandak and Hennessey LLP’s Real Estate practice group. Attorney D’Angelo is the treasurer of the Commercial Finance Section, served as YLS Real Estate & Property Law Committee chair, and has organized several commercial real estate CLE seminars. She also serves as treasurer of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association.

Rachel J. Fain is a partner and co-chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation practice group at Halloran and Sage. She previously co-chaired the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and organized pro bono representation to veterans through Connecticut Veterans Legal Center. Attorney Fain also volunteers with Connecticut Special Olympics and supports the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes.

Meghan E. Smith
 is a partner at Kahan Kerensky Capossela LLP and practices in the areas of business law and commercial real estate. She is a member of the CBA’s Business Law Section and president of the Tolland County Bar Association. Attorney Smith provides pro bono legal assistance to local veterans through the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center and serves on the board of directors of numerous nonprofit organizations.

Andrew E. Walter
 was recently named senior director of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs at PointsBet after serving as counsel for the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. Attorney Walter is an executive committee member of the Media Law Section and was a Presidential Fellow. He is a board member and secretary of AIDS Connecticut and member of the Town of Simsbury Public Building Committee.
