The Honorable Michael Wu is a judge of the Connecticut Superior Court. During his tenure on the bench, he has handled a variety of matters, including civil, criminal, juvenile, family and housing cases. He is currently assigned to the Hartford Judicial District and is responsible for the domestic violence docket.
At the time of his appointment to the bench by Governor Malloy, Judge WU was the branch manager of the Waterbury Office of Connecticut Legal Services. Prior to this working in this role, he served in numerous roles in the legal departments of United Technologies Corporation (and its various business units) and Combustion Engineering. His corporate practice included, among other things, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, litigation and corporate compliance.
Judge Wu received a B.A. with high honors in Human Relations, Resources and Services from Blackburn College in Illinois, and then completed a joint degree program at Yale Divinity School and Western New England University School of Law leading to Master of Divinity and Juris Doctor degrees. While practicing law, he simultaneously served as the pastor of a number of local churches. Through those affiliations, he has for nearly 20 years led work teams from Connecticut to Mexico and northern California to work at children’s homes, schools for disabled children, and to build homes for people who lost their homes to wildfires.
Judge Wu is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Hartford County Bar Association, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Connecticut Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Oliver Ellsworth American Inn of Court, and is a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.
