The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) welcomed members of the legal community to the 2026 Well-Being Summit at its offices in Meriden on May 6 for a morning dedicated to mindfulness, wellness, and self-healing. Hosted by the CBA Lawyer Well-Being Committee, the annual event provided attorneys with practical strategies and resources designed to support healthier and more balanced professional and personal lives.
This year’s summit featured retreat leaders from Wellness Insights Integrative Medicine, who guided attendees through presentations and experiential activities centered on improving physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The program opened with remarks and a centering session led by Dr. Katie Takayasu, founder of Wellness Insights and a board-certified family medicine physician and integrative medicine expert who specializes in whole-person care and root-cause healing. "Our job here today is to give you some really big pearls of wisdom, so that when you go back into your everyday life you can incorporate some of them," stated Dr. Takayasu.
Throughout the day, attendees explored practical wellness strategies through a series of educational sessions. Dr. Takayasu presented “Sustaining Your Energy: 4 Integrative Medicine Pearls,” offering insights into maintaining balance and energy through integrative medicine approaches. Dr. Becky Nardi, a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedic and sports-related injuries, shared guidance on ergonomics, posture, and reducing physical tension with practical tips that are easy to incorporate into daily routines.
Additional presentations included “Staying Healthy: How to Improve Your Immunity Naturally” by Dr. Kathleen “K.C.” Cannon, a naturopathic physician trained in functional medicine, and “Why Can’t I Stick to My Health Goals” by Natalie Gould, a national board certified health and wellness coach who works with clients to build sustainable lifestyle changes rooted in whole-person wellness.
Following lunch, attendees participated in a recovery meditation session led by licensed massage therapist and patient navigator Maria Allen. The session focused on mindfulness and meditation techniques designed to help attorneys reset and recharge throughout the workday.
