Newly admitted attorneys at this year's Swearing-in Ceremony.
Nearly 200 new attorneys were sworn in to the Connecticut bar at the Connecticut Supreme Court on November 2. Justices in attendance included Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson, Justice Gregory T. D’Auria, Justice Steven D. Ecker, Justice Maria Araujo Kahn, Justice Andrew J. McDonald, Justice Raheem L. Mullins, and Justice Richard N. Palmer.
The morning ceremony began with opening remarks given by Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson, urging the newly admitted attorneys to do as much pro bono work as they can, stating “As you embark on your career, please do not forget those who cannot afford legal assistance.”
After the presentation of the candidates, CBA President Jonathan M. Shaprio welcomed the attorneys into the bar, and encouraged them to join bar associations, relaying that his involvement over the years has been a cornerstone of building both his personal and professional network. He further stressed the importance and continued relevance of the rule of law in today’s world, telling new admittees, “You are the defenders of the rule of law.”
After the ceremony, the newly admitted attorneys and their families were invited to attend a reception at the State Capitol, hosted by the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section along with bar associations across Connecticut. CBA members in attendance included YLS Chair David A. McGrath, Linda Bulkovitch, who helped sign up newly-admitted attorneys for CBA membership at the reception.
