New Attorneys Sworn into the Connecticut Bar on November 14, 2025

Over the course of two ceremonies held on November 14, a group of 164 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar inside the Museum of Connecticut History in the Connecticut Supreme Court Building. The newly inducted attorneys were also invited to attend a new admittee reception held by the CBA at Gouveia Vineyard in Wallingford on November 20.

CBA Welcomes New Director of Access to Justice and Equity

The Connecticut Bar Association is pleased to announce the addition of Attorney Song Kim as its Director of Access to Justice and Equity. In this role, Attorney Kim is responsible for developing and coordinating the CBA’s initiatives to improve access to the legal system for indigent and underserved individuals, leading related legislative and public policy advocacy, and advancing the CBA’s efforts in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

CBA Hosts 10th Annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit

The Connecticut Bar Association hosted its 10th Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Summit on October 24 at CT State Community College’s Gateway campus in New Haven. Over 150 attendees, including signatory organizations of the Connecticut legal community’s Diversity and Inclusion Pledge, gathered for the summit to hear from the event’s prestigious speakers, who provided presentations focused on reflection, planning, and strategic conversations about the state of DEI in Connecticut.

Connecticut Bar Association Hosts 150th Anniversary Gala

Hundreds of attendees gathered on October 16 at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven to celebrate 150 years of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) at its Anniversary Gala. This black-tie celebration marked a historic milestone for the CBA and brought together members from throughout the state to honor the CBA’s rich history and enduring commitment to supporting the legal profession since its founding in 1875.

Young Lawyers Section Leaders Attend 2025 Annual Leadership Retreat and Receive Service Awards

The Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section (YLS) hosted its annual leadership retreat on August 8-9 at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard. The YLS Executive Committee holds this event each summer to familiarize new members of the committee with the duties of their leadership roles and to present awards to members of the committee for their service during the previous bar year.

CBA DEI Committee Celebrates Judge Cecil Thomas at Final Meeting of the Bar Year

The CBA Celebrates its 150th Anniversary at the 2025 Connecticut Legal Conference

On June 13, over 750 attorneys, judges, law students, and paralegals from throughout the state gathered at the Connecticut Convention Center for the 2025 Connecticut Legal Conference (CLC), the largest annual gathering of legal professionals in the state. This year’s conference held special significance as it also marked the 150th anniversary of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), which was founded in 1875.

During a ceremony on June 6, a group of 30 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar inside the State Supreme Court chambers. Connecticut Supreme Court Chief Justice Raheem L. Mullins and Associate Justices Joan K. Alexander; William H. Bright, Jr.; Nora R. Dannehy; Gregory T. D’Auria; Steven D. Ecker; and Andrew J. McDonald presided over the ceremony.

Three CBA Members Recognized with 2025 CLABBY Awards

CBA Celebrates Law Day 2025

The CBA Civics Education Committee held its annual Law Day Celebration at the Connecticut Appellate Court in Hartford on May 2. Law Day is a national celebration held annually to celebrate the role of law in our society and to help encourage a deeper understanding of the legal profession. The Law Day event also included the presentation of the 2025 Ralph J. Monaco Civics Education awards.

In 1958, President Eisenhower established May 1st as Law Day, a day to celebrate what the rule of law means to a free society. Its observance became law on April 7, 1961. President Eisenhower’s words ring as true today as they did nearly seventy years ago: “If civilization is to survive, it must choose the rule of law.”
