CBA Condemns the Violence at the US Capitol

Written Wednesday, January 6, 2021

The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) condemns the violence at the US Capitol and the disruption of the Congressional certification of the Electoral College vote. The CBA is and remains dedicated to the principles of law and justice and safeguarding the rule of law, particularly at this essential moment in our democracy.

As legal professionals, we are guided by the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Rules of Professional Conduct and “demonstrate respect for the legal system and for those who serve it, including judges, other lawyers and public officials. While it is a lawyer’s duty, when necessary, to challenge the rectitude of official action, it is also a lawyer’s duty to uphold legal process.”
