Daniel A. Schwartz will receive the John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award at the CBA’s annual awards celebration, Celebrate with the Stars, on Wednesday, April 20. He is a partner at Shipman & Goodwin LLP in Hartford specializing in employment law.
After joining the CBA in 1997, Attorney Schwartz became an active member in the CBA Young Lawyers Section, eventually serving as assistant secretary-treasurer of the association during the 2005-2006 bar year. He has served in various other positions within the CBA, including as a member of the Labor & Employment Section’s Executive Committee; co-chair of the CBA Future of the Law Task Force; Executive Director Review and Compensation Committee; and as a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Since 2015, he has served as the Connecticut state delegate to the American Bar Association (ABA), coordinating the CBA’s affiliation with the ABA. In this role he has provided key insights to the CBA on developing national legal issues. For many years he provided pro bono legal advice to CBA leadership, eventually leading him to being formally invited to represent the association.
The John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award recognizes CBA members who have performed outstanding service through or on behalf of the CBA for the benefit of the legal community and the community at large.
