Novack Headshot- editThe Honorable Stanley Novack will receive the Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award at the CBA’s annual awards celebration, Celebrate with the Stars, on Wednesday, May 3. Judge Novack served as a Connecticut judge for a total of 25 years and continues to serve as a judge trial referee for the Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District.

Judge Novack earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut in 1953. He earned his JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law and was admitted to practice in Connecticut in 1956. Before 1970, Judge Novack operated a solo practice in Danbury, served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the City Court of Danbury, and was also a member of several municipal committees. In 1970, he was appointed as a workers’ compensation commissioner for the State of Connecticut, a position he held for the next five years.

Judge Novack was appointed as a judge of the Connecticut Court of Common Pleas in 1975 and became a Connecticut Superior Court judge in 1978 when the Court of Common Pleas was consolidated into the Superior Court System. He continued to serve as a judge of the superior court for the next 22 years, before taking on his current role as a judge trial referee in 2000. During his tenure as a superior court judge, he also served as chief administrative judge for the family division from 1992 through 1995.

The Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award is presented to members of the state and federal judiciary who have made substantial contributions to the administration of justice in Connecticut.
