Program Description

In reaction to school shootings and perceived need for school safety, School Resource Officers (SROs) have been employed in many of our schools. Their use in the public schools has come under increasing scrutiny in light of national and local events concerning police brutality and calls to defund police.  This panel will discuss the research about the safety, climate and discipline outcomes of using SROs in schools, CT’s use of SROs, and explore possible alternatives to SROs in schools.
