About the Program

Despite decades of social, legal, and political efforts aimed at stopping sex discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace, significant problems persist. The legal profession is sadly no exception. Because of their training and prominence in society, lawyers are expected to not only follow the law but to set a standard of professional behavior, but cases abound of lawyers engaging in inappropriate behavior, including sexual harassment. This program is designed to help those who supervise and manage lawyers address and prevent potential sexual harassment. This is an advance program that assumes the participants have recently completed the two-hour mandatory Connecticut sexual harassment prevention training.

You Will Learn

  • The basic and advanced legal frameworks surrounding sexual harassment;
  • Social science around sexual harassment and sex discrimination, and how racial, ethnic, religious, and other identities intersect with and can amplify such harassment and discrimination;
  • Practical tools for identifying and eliminating workplace sexual harassment;
  • How to deal with sensitive, potentially offensive, client information in the legal workplace;
  • Dealing with power and information imbalances in the legal environment;
  • Strategies for confronting lawyers who act inappropriately.
