How to Measure Damages

Program Description

Have you ever needed to measure economic damages in a lawsuit?  Been frustrated when the judge or jury awarded more (or less) than was appropriate?  We don't always give damages the attention they deserve.  But they can make or break a lawsuit.

Join us for an evening with William Murray, CPA/ABV/CFF, ASA, who brings his over 35 years of experience to bear.  You will leave with a clear understanding of the accounting concepts behind damages, so you can better spot problems before they arise, and communicate to judge and jury the grounds for your request.

You will learn

  • The fundamental accounting concepts used when calculating economic damages
  • How to spot holes in your and your opponent's analysis
  • An overview of expectation damages, lost profits, mitigation, present value, and interest
