Webinar-CLE Pass Eligible

Presented by the CT Bar Institute

About the Program

Law firm owners are increasingly exposed to aggressive tax strategies marketed as “planning,” yet many do not fully understand where legitimate tax minimization ends and tax fraud or abusive schemes begin. This program provides a practical, risk-aware overview of tax fraud concepts and the IRS’s annual “Dirty Dozen,” with a focus on strategies that commonly impact high-income professionals and law firm owners. Attendees will learn how to distinguish defensible tax planning from improper or abusive arrangements, identify common red flags used by tax promoters, and understand the potential financial, legal, and ethical consequences of getting it wrong. The program emphasizes judgment, decision-making, and risk management to help participants evaluate tax advice more effectively before taking action.

You Will Learn

• To identify common characteristics and red flags associated with improper tax strategies
• To understand the IRS “Dirty Dozen” at a high level and why these schemes are targeted
