The CBA Women in the Law Section, in association with the CBA Young Lawyers Section (YLS) Women in the Law Committee, presented the 2025 Ladder Award to Attorney Kimberly Jacobsen at this year’s Pathways to Leadership for Women Lawyers event on March 6 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

Over 60 Connecticut Bar Association members gathered at Café Fiore in Cromwell on February 27 for the Young Lawyers Section Diversity Dinner: The Current State of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

On the evening of October 10, over 40 members of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section gathered at the TPC River Highlands golf club in Cromwell for the section’s 2024 Pro Bono Fair and Golf Event.

The Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section (YLS) hosted its annual leadership retreat on August 9-10 at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard. The YLS Executive Committee holds this event each summer to familiarize new members of the committee with the duties of their leadership roles and to present awards to members of the committee for their service during the previous bar year.

On the morning of June 7, 36 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar during a ceremony held inside the Connecticut State Library and Supreme Court Building.

The CBA Women in the Law Section, in association with the CBA Young Lawyers Section (YLS) Women in the Law Committee, presented the 2024 Ladder Award to the Honorable Evelyn M. Daly at this year’s Pathways to Leadership for Women Lawyers event on March 7 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

On November 20, the CBA Young Lawyers Section and New Haven County Bar Association co-hosted Trivia for a Cause at stony Creek Brewery in Branford, and on December 6, over 50 YLS members gathered at Elicit Brewing in Manchester for the section's annual holiday party. During both events, funds were raised to support charitable causes.

On November 3, 2023, 150 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar during two ceremonies held in the morning and afternoon in the Museum of Connecticut History inside the Connecticut State Library and Supreme Court Building.

On October 19, the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section hosted its annual Pro Bono Fair and Golf Event at the Hartford Golf Club. Over 50 people attended the event, which consisted of a nine-hole round of golf followed by a reception.

On September 21 through 23, more than 50 attorneys from Connecticut and nearby states gathered at Mohegan Sun for the Northeast Regional Professional Development Conference for Young Lawyers. The conference was hosted by the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and provided the opportunity for young lawyers from throughout the northeast region to network and gain critical skills and knowledge to develop as leaders in the legal profession.

On the morning of June 23 at the Connecticut Supreme Court building, 29 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar. After the ceremony, CBA President Daniel J. Horgan presented a welcome speech to the new attorneys and they were invited to a reception, where they met with members of the CBA Young Lawyers Section and other bar associations from across Connecticut.

On May 25, 32 CBA members were sworn into the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. The trip to Washington, DC for the swearing in was organized by past Young Lawyers Section (YLS) chair Cindy Cieslak, who currently serves as the Connecticut Young Lawyer Division delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates.

On April 27, the CBA YLS Section hosted the event “Diversity on the Pipeline” at Café Fiore in Cromwell, which featured a unique discussion from a panel of diverse attorneys on the impact and importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion during all stages of a legal career.

The CBA Women in the Law Section, in association with the CBA Young Lawyers Section (YLS) Women in the Law Committee, honored Tanyee “Tan” Cheung as the 2023 recipient of the Ladder Award at Pathways to Leadership for Women Lawyers on March 2 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

On February 15, the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) held a student outreach event at the University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Law with current UConn law students. At the event, YLS members and other attorneys discussed the benefits of networking and membership with the CBA.

On February 9 the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), CBA Young Lawyers Section, Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association, Connecticut Italian American Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, Fairfield County Bar Association, George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, Hartford County Bar Association, New Haven County Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut, and Tolland County Bar Association hosted a New Admittee’s Reception at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven Connecticut for all attorneys newly admitted to practice in Connecticut since 2020.

On Monday, December 5, the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) held their annual holiday party, which took the form of an ugly sweater holiday bash at Stony Creek Brewery in Branford. A total of $1,500 collected from the event was donated to the Women’s Center in Bloomfield, which provides compassionate abortion care and reproductive health services.

The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) Young Lawyers Section (YLS) hosted its annual Horn of Plenty Fundraiser, which ran from November 7-30 this year. The YLS raised donations through Connecticut Foodshare’s annual “Turkey and Forty” campaign, which collects funds and food to provide Thanksgiving meals to families throughout the state and help support the organization’s year-round efforts.

On October 20, the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section hosted its annual Pro Bono Fair and Golf Event at the Hartford Golf Club. Over 60 people attended the event, which consisted of a nine-hole round of golf followed by a reception. Attendees were able to choose whether to participate in the round of golf or only attend for the reception. Booths were set up to provide information on nine different organizations providing pro bono services in Connecticut.
