Young Lawyers Section Leaders Attend 2024 Annual Leadership Retreat and Receive Service Awards

The Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section (YLS) hosted its annual leadership retreat on August 9-10 at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard. The YLS Executive Committee holds this event each summer to familiarize new members of the committee with the duties of their leadership roles and to present awards to members of the committee for their service during the previous bar year.

YLS Raises Funds for Charitable Causes at Holiday Events

On November 20, the CBA Young Lawyers Section and New Haven County Bar Association co-hosted Trivia for a Cause at stony Creek Brewery in Branford, and on December 6, over 50 YLS members gathered at Elicit Brewing in Manchester for the section's annual holiday party. During both events, funds were raised to support charitable causes.

On November 3, 2023, 150 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar during two ceremonies held in the morning and afternoon in the Museum of Connecticut History inside the Connecticut State Library and Supreme Court Building.

CBA Young Lawyers Section Hosts Northeast Regional Professional Development Conference for Young Lawyers

On September 21 through 23, more than 50 attorneys from Connecticut and nearby states gathered at Mohegan Sun for the Northeast Regional Professional Development Conference for Young Lawyers. The conference was hosted by the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and provided the opportunity for young lawyers from throughout the northeast region to network and gain critical skills and knowledge to develop as leaders in the legal profession.

On the morning of June 23 at the Connecticut Supreme Court building, 29 new attorneys were sworn into the Connecticut Bar. After the ceremony, CBA President Daniel J. Horgan presented a welcome speech to the new attorneys and they were invited to a reception, where they met with members of the CBA Young Lawyers Section and other bar associations from across Connecticut.

CBA Members Sworn into the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States

On May 25, 32 CBA members were sworn into the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. The trip to Washington, DC for the swearing in was organized by past Young Lawyers Section (YLS) chair Cindy Cieslak, who currently serves as the Connecticut Young Lawyer Division delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates.

CBA and Local and Affinity Bar Associations Host 2023 New Admittees Reception

On February 9 the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA), CBA Young Lawyers Section, Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association, Connecticut Italian American Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, Fairfield County Bar Association, George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, Hartford County Bar Association, New Haven County Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut, and Tolland County Bar Association hosted a New Admittee’s Reception at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven Connecticut for all attorneys newly admitted to practice in Connecticut since 2020.

YLS Raises Funds at Holiday Party for The Women's Center of Bloomfield

On Monday, December 5, the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) held their annual holiday party, which took the form of an ugly sweater holiday bash at Stony Creek Brewery in Branford. A total of $1,500 collected from the event was donated to the Women’s Center in Bloomfield, which provides compassionate abortion care and reproductive health services.

YLS Hosts Annual Horn of Plenty Fundraiser

The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) Young Lawyers Section (YLS) hosted its annual Horn of Plenty Fundraiser, which ran from November 7-30 this year. The YLS raised donations through Connecticut Foodshare’s annual “Turkey and Forty” campaign, which collects funds and food to provide Thanksgiving meals to families throughout the state and help support the organization’s year-round efforts.

Young Lawyers Section Hosts 2022 Pro Bono Fair and Golf Event

On October 20, the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section hosted its annual Pro Bono Fair and Golf Event at the Hartford Golf Club. Over 60 people attended the event, which consisted of a nine-hole round of golf followed by a reception. Attendees were able to choose whether to participate in the round of golf or only attend for the reception. Booths were set up to provide information on nine different organizations providing pro bono services in Connecticut.
