Alison Toumekian 2025 CWTS HeadshotAlison J. Toumekian will receive the 2025 Young Lawyers Section Vanguard Award at the CBA’s annual awards ceremony, Celebrate with the Stars, on Wednesday, April 9.

Attorney Toumekian is an associate at the Bridgeport office of Zeldes Needle & Cooper PC in the firm’s litigation practice group. While she focuses her practice in the areas of Probate and Family Law, she also oversees a variety of cases in all aspects of civil litigation. Prior to joining Zeldes Needle & Cooper PC, she practiced for several years in the areas of family and juvenile law, representing clients in divorce, custody, and child protection matters. She received her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2016, where she graduated with honors with concentrations in civil advocacy & dispute resolution and family law.

In addition to having served as a member of the CBA Young Lawyers Section Executive Committee for the past seven years, Attorney Toumekian has also taken on the role of the District Two representative to the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Young Lawyers Division (YLD), representing the interests of Connecticut and Rhode Island young lawyers on the ABA Young Lawyers Division Council and Assembly. Through this role, she has become an active member in the ABA YLD, sitting as the affiliates vice director and on the YLD Membership Board. During ABA Day, she served as Connecticut State co-captain and a lobbying elected representative as part of Connecticut’s ABA delegation.

Along with her roles with the CBA YLS and ABA, Attorney Toumekain volunteers with the CBA’s Lawyers in Libraries program, providing free legal counsel at Bridgeport public libraries to individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford legal representation. She is also a member of the CBA Family Law and Child Welfare and Juvenile Law Sections.

The Young Lawyers Section Vanguard Award is presented to a current or recent alum (up to three years back) of the CBA-YLS executive committee who has made outstanding and significant contributions to the YLS and the Bar Association in general over a prolonged time period. The recipient is an individual who, despite not pursuing an officer position, assumed a leadership role in the YLS and whose progressive and forward thinking ideas have benefited all CBA members.
