    Learn useful skills and tips for pro bono trials from skilled colleagues and receive insight from members of the federal judiciary. To participate in this workshop, you must agree to take on a pro bono matter in the District of Connecticut within the next twelve months. In exchange you will receive instruction, including mock trial presentations before a federal judge, opening and closing statements, direct examination, cross examination, and evidence issues (i.e., getting documents admitted). Also included is an overview of the District Court's screening process for pro se cases and prisoner litigation. Lunch will be provided.

    Join us for a screening of the film, Resilience: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope, a one-hour documentary about the science of childhood trauma and the movement to treat and prevent toxic stress. Following the film, learn about the long term impact of traumatic events on children, discuss ways the medical community, legal community, and judicial system can assist victims of trauma, and create a framework for understanding how attorneys and health care providers can represent clients who have experienced traumatic events in a way that prevents continued trauma.
