Graduate "students"; graduate "assistants"; or graduate "employees"? Two distinguished labor lawyers -- one representing unions, one representing management -- will discuss how people pursuing Ph.D.s and other degrees should be categorized under labor law. They also will discuss the push by some unions -- including Local 33 Unite Here at Yale University -- to advocate for smaller proposed bargaining units and the impact of the Trump Administration on this and related contentious issues (including in the NLRB’s December 15 opinion in PCC Structurals).
