Paralegals Section Meeting

No CE Credits

Speaker:Rayna Dyton-White, the Title IX Coordinator at University of Hartford:

The presentation will focus on institutional disparities that feed the criminal justice system, and how social prejudices influence outcomes in criminal justice. Specifically, the presentation will explore racial disparities in the foster care system, and how this disproportionally affects the number of people of color who end up in the justice system.

The presentation will also look at a particular case here in Connecticut and how access, power and race influenced the outcome, the case involves a multiple DUI conviction and the inability to move the defendant into mandated treatment, which even the judge conceded was a better remedy for the defendant.
