NEW SESSION STARTS

On Wednesday January 6, 2021 in a parking lot in front of the Connecticut State Capitol the re-elected and new members of the State Senate and House of Representatives were sworn into a new two-year term. In the Senate, Sen. Martin M. Looney (New Haven) was elected Senate President Pro Tempore and Sen. Kevin C. Kelly (Stratford) was elected Senate Minority Leader. In the House, Rep. Matthew D. Ritter (Hartford) was elected as Speaker, and Rep. Vincent Candelora (North Branford) as House Republican Leader.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

All meetings and likely the entire session will be virtual. For all votes, it will be necessary for legislators to be visually seen casting their votes. Because of this requirement, more time will be needed to move legislation this year and fewer bills will have the opportunity to be moved and passed.

Assignments of legislators to their committees can be found here.

LEGISLATIVE CALENDAR

The calendar of the legislature is available daily to view scheduling of committee meetings and public hearings. Each day, through this calendar, we have an opportunity to view committee agenda, attend virtual committee meetings, hear the discussion, and note the process.
