Professor Levi has distinguished herself as a legal educator of the highest quality through her experience as a professor, her numerous scholarly publications, and legal work dedicated to fighting for the rights of women; children; the poor; and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender clients. Professor Levi is the co-editor of Transgender Family Law: A Guide to Effective Advocacy, the first book to address legal issues facing transgender people in the family law context and provide tools to effectively represent transgender clients. She is continuously recognized by her students and peers for being a skilled and devoted teacher that helps further the understanding of our federal equal protection jurisprudence. Her extensive and ongoing efforts to further legal education on transgender law embodies the commitment to legal education recognized by the Tapping Reeve Legal Educator Award.
The Tapping Reeve Legal Educator Award is presented to a distinguished CBA member who is a member of the faculty, a clinical instructor, or an adjunct instructor at UConn Law School, Quinnipiac Law School, Yale Law School, or Western New England Law School who has contributed greatly to the legal education of his or her colleagues.
