Awardee Spotlight | Cullen W. Guilmartin

Cullen Guilmartin 400x400Cullen W. Guilmartin is one of four attorneys who will receive the Honorable Anthony V. DeMayo Pro Bono Award at the CBA’s annual awards celebration, Celebrate with the Stars, on Wednesday, April 3.

Attorney Guilmartin is a partner at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani’s Hartford; Westchester, NY; and Providence, RI offices. He handles a wide range of litigation matters and represents corporate clients nationally and regionally, overseeing litigation involving multiple areas including products liability, commercial litigation, employment, and construction claims. He has successfully litigated claims in over 20 different states and in a variety of venues, including state and federal court and AAA and JAMS arbitrations.

Attorney Guilmartin received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 2006. He is admitted to practice in the states of Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island as well as the United States District Courts for the Districts of Connecticut and Rhode Island.

While maintaining a busy career as a litigator, Attorney Guilmartin has eagerly donated substantial amounts of time to assisting veterans through the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC). Since 2019, he has provided pro bono legal representation to disabled veterans living with mental health challenges and facing summary process evictions. In the last two years alone, he has represented nine cases involving veterans with landlord/tenant disputes and has also assembled teams of young associate attorneys to assist with these pro bono cases, helping to introduce a new generation of attorneys to the important mission of the CVLC.

The Honorable Anthony V. DeMayo Pro Bono Award recognizes CBA members who demonstrated dedication to the provision of legal services without expectation of payment to those in need.
