Moses Beckett is the managing attorney of the housing unit at Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, where he is proud to further their mission by helping low-income individuals and families avoid eviction and live in safe, affordable housing. He also manages Connecticut’s Right to Counsel Program hotline. The creation of this hotline marked Connecticut as the third state in the country to provide free legal representation to income-eligible tenants facing eviction or loss of housing subsidy.
Attorney Beckett is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Legal Aid and Public Defense Committee; Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee; and the Future of the Legal Profession Scholars Program Scholarship Committee, which selects recipients of the program’s scholarships with the intention of addressing the lack of representation in the legal field and increasing the pipeline of diverse talent entering Connecticut’s legal profession. He is also a member of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association and Hartford County Bar Association.
Attorney Beckett received his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he served as the secretary of the Black Law Student Association and was a member of the gospel choir. He earned his B.A. in public relations and marketing from Quinnipiac University.
