    On August 27, 2020 the Connecticut Supreme Court issued its decision in State v. Liebenguth which ruled that the use of the N-word was considered "fighting words" and therefore unprotected hate speech. This CLE will discuss the Court's decision and take a deep dive into First Amendment law in Connecticut and the United States. It will also discuss the history of the "N-word" and how the media has affected our perception of what is considered "hate speech."
