Weaving together powerful narratives and persuasive data, Professor Henning explores the criminalization of normal adolescence and makes a compelling case that racial disparities in the juvenile and criminal legal systems are deeply rooted in America's unfounded, and sometimes intentionally manufactured, fears of youth of color. Unlike white youth, who are afforded the freedom to test boundaries and figure out who they are and who they want to be, youth of color are seen as a threat and denied the privileges of healthy adolescent play, adventure, and experimentation.

This program will explore the ins, outs, and recent changes to pre-trial diversionary programs in Connecticut, including Accelerated Rehabilitation (AR), Family Violence Education Program (FVEP), and Impaired Driving Intervention Program (IDIP). The presentation will focus on the application process and requirements. The panelists, which include a criminal defense attorney, a prosecutor, and a judge, will focus on their roles in the application process.

There will be a 30-minute networking session for in-person attendees from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. Learn your obligations under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA). Connecticut was the fifth state in the country to pass comprehensive privacy legislation. It is set to take effect on July 1, 2023. Presenters will discuss who is subject to the law and who is exempt, business obligations and consumer rights, enforcement of the Act, and how the CTDPA compares to privacy laws in California and Europe.
